I know it's hard to believe that your child is in 4th grade! I've been through it twice, and I hope you find the experience as enjoyable as I did as a mom! This year, your child will grow substantially in the areas of organization and accountability, in preparation for 5th grade, and they will need all the help they can get from you and me.
My goal is to provide your child with a fun, safe, and well-rounded learning environment! You can help by making sure your child knows some very important things before entering in September.

Students should know their fact families to 12x12. Every part of math requires that all students know their times tables inside & out! Whenever possible, practice the fact families with your child.

Students should be reading at least 20 minutes a day all summer, but if they haven't, starting right now would be optimal. When time allows have them read to you aloud.

Students should understand that good listening skills are as important as good reading skills. Ten seconds of not listening can create a gap in your child's knowledge base.

Students need to have their supplies on the very first day of school. When they don't, they can get behind because they need to set up their books, folders, etc. after everyone else is done, so they're missing something.

Students need to understand what "smart choices" are as well as guilty by association.

Most of all, students need to know that you and I are here for them now and to help them continue building the skills and knowledge they'll need for a successful future!
