  • Select one memory from today's brainstorming session (writing territories section of notebook) and draft (write) for 30 minutes this evening on loose-leaf notebook paper.  Write on one side only and skip lines.  Label "Draft #1."  Remember, all that is due is a ROUGH DRAFT, not a polished piece of writing.  Rough draft DUE F 9/28/07.

Standard Nightly ILA Homework (M-Th):

  • Read 20-30 minutes nightly in your library/free-choice book, using reading comprehension strategies modeled in class.  Keep your reading log updated in your hanging file folder and be thinking about the literary letter that is due every three weeks.  
  • Correct or complete any classwork or homework not completed during class.  Reviewing of class notes is always a good strategy for improving your learning.

Supplies needed for LAL:

·  Mead 3-subject spiral notebook with interior pockets (cost: $2.25; retail $4.99 and up!) – used as a writer’s notebook and for grammar notes

·  1-2 marble composition books– used as reading journals (cost: $ .50)

·  1 bottle of Elmer’s glue – used in classroom supply tubs

·  1 box of Kleenex – distributed to 7th grade core classrooms

·  Supplies to be taken to ALL core subjects in pencil pouch, every day!:

*Pencil pouch:

a.  3-5 pencils with erasers

b.  3-5 black ink pens

c.  2 correcting pens (red, blue, purple, or green ink)

d.  Calculator

e.  Colored pencils, yellow highlighter, markers, crayons are optional

*Agenda (one is supplied by MacKinnon.  Lost agendas must be purchased by student on his/her own)

*Two-pocket folder to be used as homework folder for all classes
